Jibu Films
Jibu Jin is a Chinese Tibetan filmmaker and photographer based between Los Angeles and Chengdu. He is currently pursuing a BFA in Film & Video at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where his practice moves fluidly across 16mm film, Mini DV, VHS, sound-based installation, and essayistic writing.
Working across experimental film and hybrid documentary forms, Jibu’s work explores the dialectical relationship between self and otherness, memory and displacement, mechanical time and human longing. Drawing from his transnational background and personal history, his films often navigate landscapes, industrial, desert, or those that are imagined, as emotional and philosophical terrains.
In addition to filmmaking, Jibu has experience in theater, sculpture, and previously served as a cultural ambassador in a China–U.S. exchange program. He was also an invited artist at the Migratory Birds 300 event during the 2021 Aranya Theater Festival. Across mediums, his practice remains rooted in a search for connection between places, histories, and the fragile interior worlds within.
